Manuscript herbicide – bermudagrass and zoysiagrass turf

Disease Control

Manuscript® herbicide is a safe and effective option for control of tropical signalgrass, crabgrasses, and dallisgrass in bermudagrass and zoysiagrass turf. It is now available in the United Arab Emirates.

Its active ingredient pinoxaden works through the ACCase mode of action, which has a unique control spectrum thanks to its phenylpyrazoline chemistry. The Manuscript formulation includes a safener, enabling spot-treatment rates to increase weed control while maintaining turf safety. Manuscript is also packaged with Adigor™ surfactant, which was specifically designed to maximize Manuscript absorption and translocation in target weeds.

Manuscript Turf Herbicide available in the UAE

Broadcast rates of Manuscript are recommended to control perennial ryegrass and bull paspalum (aka thin paspalum). A single application at 9.6 fl. oz./acre is an effective option for removal of ryegrass overseedings, whereas the 19.2 fl. oz./acre rate is recommended for clumpy ryegrass. For bull paspalum control, make either one application at 19.2 fl. oz./acre or two applications at 9.6 fl. oz./acre on a 14- to 21-day interval.

Spot-treatment applications (9.6 fl. oz./10,000 ft.2) of Manuscript are recommended to control tropical signalgrass, crabgrasses, or dallisgrass. Two spot-treatment applications on a 14- to 21-day interval provide excellent control of these weeds with excellent safety to bermudagrass and zoysiagrass turf.

For best results, Manuscript should be applied in 40 gallons of water per acre with 0.5% v/v of Adigor. Target weeds should be actively growing – in other words, not under stress from drought or other factors – to maximize absorption and translocation of the active ingredient.

Care should be taken when tank-mixing Manuscript with other herbicides to ensure best performance. Phenoxy herbicides such as 2,4-D and MCPP are antagonistic to Manuscript and reduce its performance. Tank-mixing Manuscript with a sulfonylurea herbicide such as Monument® 75WG herbicide is a better option. Manuscript + Monument may have slower activity against certain grasses, but in the long run provides excellent results against labeled weeds. In the UAE, Manuscript can be tank-mixed with the Triple Threat combination of Tenacity®, Princep® Liquid and Pennant Magnum® herbicides for control of a broad-spectrum of grasses, broadleaves, and sedges.
